duh, draw more hair. at this stage, i really wanted to give up and concentrate on drawing a sexy botak guy. but i'm
doing a tutorial so i'm actually doing it for your sake...
if you love me, send me some money so that i can buy a piano :') <--- this is not related to oekaki-ing, pls ignore if
you have no money.
zoom out again!! the lineart is almost done. i congratulated myself at this stage.
next, i erased the secret message.
and then i unified the layers. click on the Copy button until you see the words Layer Unify. you want the lineart to be on
the top layer, so do a select by dragging a rectangle across the whole picture on the foreground layer, then click on the
background layer. this copies the contents selected from the top layer to the bottom layer.
to unify everything onto the bottom layer. start by selecting the rectangular area on the bottom layer. then click on the top layer.
you'll get the hang of this after a few trials :')
at this stage, i finally decided that the lineart is done :'D *cheers*
idiot's guide to shading and colouring:
you have to pick at least three skin tones. fill up the entire face with the lightest tone.
in this picture, the light source is coming from our left, so areas on the right will have a darker shade.
roughly colour in the shading to see if everything looks natural. when you're satisfied with the shading, move on.
i have no idea what the green thing is. it appeared after i converted my screenshot to jpg. maybe it's a message from god that
life is b-e-a-utiful :'D
most probably not. and it's not important so don't be bothered by it and move on!
at this stage, i realized that he looks cuter if i cover his entire face with the medium shade.
the nose is more complicated. when shading the nose, zoom in and shade it with small strokes. remember to zoom out every now and then
to see how it looks. remember, the nose juts out of your face, so the skin shading behind the nose should be darker.
since this is a lazy girl's guide to oekaki, i did not blend the shading using elaborate methods. i used the blur tool :'D
never start with A=255. try different combinations with a medium sized brush for different parts of the face. for the nose and lips,
use a smaller brush size.
